Zirconia-Based Ceramics Reinforced by Carbon Nanotubes: A Review with Emphasis on Mechanical Properties

This review outlines the state of art, processing techniques, and mechanical testing methods zirconia (ZrO2)-based composites reinforced by carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The use CNTs as a secondary phase in matrix is motivated their outstanding crack self-healing ability, possibility to tailor desired nano-structural properties, exceptional wear behavior. Therefore, detailed investigation into CNT features has been provided. debate using different Vickers indentation fracture toughness equations estimate resistance propagation was critically reviewed according characteristics. Finally, this particularly highlights role ZrO2-based promising material owing tribo-mechanical properties.
